pspWxp Encore - Image 1

It must be the week for portal releases, as there's another one on the loose. After mentioning the release of DarkPortal and Pro-Messenger, Hunter Onhika sent in a tip about a rebuild of pspWxp, known as Encore.

According to the pspWxp forums, pspWxp Encore v4 is the first beta out for the portal. They don't intend to offer a release date till they know how long it'll take, but until then, you can enjoy this portal. They also mention that the interface currently uses the Linux-based  K Desktop Environment, and will feature additional themes later on.

As for functionality, their progress is currently at 40 percent, so expect bugs here and there. Still, their readme is very instructive, featuring installation instructions and some troubleshooting tips. In any case, the full article gives the changelog and status updates they've posted on their forums. Give it a try, and let them know what you think. Enjoy!

PC2PSP v0.82

This just in from sanguinus, the developer of PC2PSP, the app that takes screenshots from your PC and sends them through Usbhostfs or Nethostfs (untested yet) to your PSP and updates them about twice a second.

Last we posted, sanguinus added a mouse control but that version appeared to have some bugs. Some users reported having a problem with a missing OCX control so that has been added. In PC2PSP v1.0, you can now right click (Square) and double click (Triangle).

Also, he did some fixes to make it run a bit faster. The speed can be adjusted by changing the line:

screen.waitVblankStart(10 )

By decreasing 10 it goes faster but it will also reduce stability. If you want to go for stability opt for less screen update.

If you're still experiencing kinks, sanguinus added the the following troubleshooting tips:
  • Make sure the exe is in the folder with the Lua script and the pictures.
  • Make sure exe is running
  • Set pictures to read only
To install PC2PSP v1.0, unzip the download file into the folder which your PSP sees when you go into net/usb hostfs. Start usb/net hostfs the run the exe in the luaplayer/applications/screenshot/ folder. This sends the pics and acts as a PSP visible mouse. Okay, you probably know this by now but go ahead and read the readme file.

PSP browserHere is the step-by-step troubleshooting for PSP firmware 2.80 not displaying Google images on its Internet browser. Some people have noticed that Google Images were broken ever since they upgraded. Well the easy fix is to disable Javascript and here's how you do it:

    1. Go to your PSP Internet Browser
    2. Press the triangle button
    3. Go to "Tools"
    4. Select "Settings" then "View Settings"
    5. Finally, disable Javascript by selecting Javascript "Off"

And there you have it! You will now be able to view Google Images properly. Credits for this troubleshooting info goes to Shamoo.
