A Sony PSP can be a target for handheld thieves - Image 1It's usually wise to invest in a good security system for something that you value - such as your Sony PSP. What makes a security system good? For one thing, the developer of that system takes the time to improve the product, just as homebrew developer TRStealthX has done with the PSAFE v3.1. Rest secure in the knowledge of the anti-theft application after the jump.

PSAFE v1 - anti-theft application for the PlayStation Portable - Image 1As coder TRStealthX said it himself, it is really not cool if your PlayStation Portable gets stolen. With this in mind, the developer has came up with an anti-theft application and released it on QJ.NET PSP Development Forum.

Called PSAFE, this specific program is somewhat similar to ATPSP released a couple of years ago. Know more after the jump!

PSDeveloper BETA - Image 1Another homebrew developer by the name of TRStealthX has come out of the shadows and has released the homebrew application PSDeveloper which is currently in BETA. Budding and established PSP coders out there should take note of this application because this will be able to help you in the development of other applications or games for the Sony PlayStation Portable.

What is PSDeveloper exactly? Glad you asked. It's a Windows application that will allow you to develop apps for the PSP. This homebrew application works on both Windows Vista and Windows XP. Here's a list of features TRStealthX' PSDeveloper BETA has:
  • Insert common, media, and net headers.
  • Insert callback routines.
  • Example codes of Hello World and Displaying an image to the PSP.
  • Allows for basic file operations.
TRStealthX is open for suggestions when it comes to the PSDeveloper, so better tell the dev what you think is needed in this nifty app. You can also report what bugs may be found in the BETA version of PSDeveloper. Here's a list of what TRStealthX says should be expected from PSDeveloper:
  • Syntax highliter for better, and easier coding
  • Makefile maker
  • Auto define function (defines everything in your code, so you can understand what your doing better)
  • SmartBuild function - allows for compiling and testing straight off PSDeveloper
  • More code examples
  • Way better GUI
  • Less bugs
  • More, way more
The installation guide is in the readme, so better go check that out and thoroughly read the text file before you do anything with this app. Enjoy! And oh, shall we expect you guys to show us what you were able to come up with using the PSDeveloper? We'll be waiting.
