Developer uberjack has unveiled a new build of the Free Unix Spectrum Emulator (Fuse) emulator for the PSP. Among other updates, version 0.9.0.25 addressed a bug with the sound rendering engine that was causing the application to slow down.

The latest test release of the PlayStation Portable-based Mac Emulator, Basilisk II, is finally here. Homebrew developer J.F. recently announced the new build on the ps2dev.org forums and stated that test release 18 finally addresses the horrible slow downs the emulator has been experiencing over the past versions. It's another emulated feather in homebrew developer uberjack's hat. After ColEm and fMSX, uberjack now gives us a Free Unix Spectrum Emulator - otherwise simply known as Fuse - a Sinclair Spectrum Emulator. More details in the full article.

One of many PSP updates coming your way is that of Zx-81's emulator projects: PSPBEEB, a BBC Micro Computer emulator for the Sony PlayStation Portable. And after nine months, PSPBEEB is now at version 1.1.0 with a slew of additions since version 1.0.8. The new version of PSP BeebEm port has been modernized for the newest custom firmwares and is also safe for Sony's PSP Slim & Lite. More details can be had at the full story.

Homebrew developer Zx-81 dropped by our forums to announce the release of the PSP-ZX81 v1.1.0 for the PSP. This version introduces IR keyboard support, compatibility with custom firmware 3.x and the PSP Slim, a new and improved speed limiter function and more. In case you missed our previous coverage on this application, it is an emulator for the Sinclair ZX81 computer running on Unix systems.

PSP homebrew developer Zx-81 has whipped up a handy little application that lets you play a game of classic, no-frills Chess with an AI-controlled opponent. It's PSP GNU Chess v1.0.1 for the Sony PlayStation Portable, fresh off Zx-81's homebrew oven.

For the uninitiated of us, GNU Chess is a command line program that runs on a myriad of systems, some of which are UNIX, Windows or Mac OS. Started in 1986 by Stuart Cracraft, GNU Chess is still under development up to this day, and this homebrew port of the game has now been made to work on the PSP courtesy of Zx-81, with a few personal tweaks. This includes a graphical user interface for convenience.

And like all of Zx-81's releases, everything a PSP homebrew enthusiast needs to know about using or installing the game is inside the readme file bundled in the downloadable archive. So be sure to read it before doing anything.

Sony PSP homebrew developer Zx-81 has released yet another nifty PSP homebrew application. It's called PSPWrite version 1.0.1, and as the name suggests, this is a simple text editor which is easier to use than Notepad.

zx-81's PSPWrite version 1.0.1 allows users to edit even large text files in both dos and unix mode, using iso8859-1 (8bits) characters encoding. All iso8859-1 characters are present in the "Danzeff like" virtual keyboard.

What's more, PSPWrite has IR Keyboard support. It's based on the work of Harald Fielker who authored the PSP IR Keyboard Library with a new patch from Craig to support Sprint PCS IR keyboard. PSPWrite version 1.0.1 was developed on linux for Firmware 1.5 and 3.40-OE. It was  tested using a Targus Universal IR Wireless keyboard.
