Portable VNC keyboard support banner - Image 1

PSP homebrew developer Zx-81 dropped by the QJ.Net Forums earlier to let us in on a new version he's got ready for Portable VNC - the application that allows PSP owners to access their PC via their portable console's Wi-Fi connectivity.

The latest updates for the app's version 1.2.6 are designed to polish up the wireless keyboard support (tested on a Targus Wireless keyboard) that Zx-81 had added to Portable VNC's previous version (v 1.2.5):
  • Add new useful keys to the danzeff keyboard such as Win, Alt-tab, etc ...
  • All keys of the virtual keyboard are now really working !
  • (many keys were not usable in the previous version)
  • Support more keys with the IR-keyboard
In case you're wondering who put this application's major components together, Harald Fielker was the original author of the PSP IR keyboard Library, while the Virtual Keyboard is based on the Danzel code. PSP VNC was originally written by NHD from TeamXos, and was based on the PalmOS VNC client.

Installation instructions and usage details should be available in the file bundle's readme. Or, you can also opt to visit Zx-81's release thread over at our QJ.Net Forums. There a three files for download: One for PSP firmware 1.5, custom firmware 3.x, and PSP VNC v1.2.6's source codes.

Portable VNC v1.2.5 (DNS) - Image 1 ZX-81 is on a roll! Only minutes after giving us an update on TI-92 Calculator emulator PSPXTI, he's once again visited our PSP forums bringing us a new version of Portable VNC, now on v.1.2.5.

PSP application Portable VNC is very popular among long-time PSP homebrew fans because it allows its users to access their PC desktop via PSP from any place using a Wi-Fi connection. Unfortunately for those stuck on the latest Sony PSP firmware and for those who choose to use lower firmwares, this version is only available for users of Dark Alex's custom firmwares.

Portable VNC includes IR keyboard support based on the work of Harald Fielker, the author of the PSP IR Keyboard Library. It also features the Danzeff virtual keyboard which in turn is based on the Danzel code. PSPVNC is based on the PalmOS VNC client and is from NHD from TeamXos. With that cleared, we now give you version 1.2.5's changelog straight from ZX-81:
  • Real hostname are now supported in the configuration menu! It should be usefull if you want to connect to your PC from anywhere and if you have a dynamic IP. Of course you can still specify a static IP address
  • IR Keyboard is now active in all menus
  • New keyboard mapping (previous one was very confusing)
  • Display help on keys to use for each menu
Again, we're reminding you that Portable VNC is being distributed under the GNU license. If you want to modify or add to the program, you can download the source code below. ZX-81's also warning us that the "host configurations file generated with previous versions are NOT compatible" with this release. Lastly, for installation and usage instructions, please read the README.txt file included in the downloads.

PSP VNC

New year isn't complete without all the fireworks and flashing lights - bells, whistles, trumpets, confetti, and Times Square parties. And even though he's still "in retirement," Ahman is welcoming the new year with his own kind of fireworks: homebrew ports of his apps to work on 3.02 kernel. So, what's in his big banging package? His biggest homebrew projects are all lined up for 3.02 OE-B glory. The ports in the package are:
These players will allow you to open media files on your PSP when running Dark_AleX's 3.02 OE-B. The PMf and Atract3 players allow you to access the said file formats, while the PMP Mod is a plugin that allows you to watch full resolution videos on your PSP. Aside from the players, the PSP VNC is a remote access app that allows you to control stuff on your PC.

Right now though, we can't seem to access the PMP AVC Mod download link which suloku posted on our forums. We've been getting a 404 on that one. We'll post the other downloads below, and as for the PMP Mod, just keep tabs on this space. We'll update the post as soon as we've gotten access to the archive file. For now, you can head to our forums below and maybe try out for yourself if suloku's link works for you.
