The PSP 3D room demo - Image 1It's got four walls, a floor, and it looks like a cross between something from Silent Hill and Quake. It's a 3D room demo for your PSP, and while it's certainly impressive enough by itself, the future applications of the room demo are definitely exciting.

Sony's PlayStation Portable handheld - Image 1After his stint with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, it looks like Link is doing some PSP homebrew side-scrolling action with the help of developer waywardson. The veteran Lua coder has come up with his newest game, JUMP DUCK LINK v.1, which pits Link as he jumps and ducks his way through a never ending level full of bees, trees and Rupees. PSPGraph (Updated) - slope equation included - Image 1 PSPGraph (Updated) - slope equation included - Image 2

The homebrew application PSPGraph that we shared with you yesterday just received an upgrade from developer waywardson over at QJ.NET PSP Development Forum. In case you missed our first coverage on this, take note that this useful program allows users to plot two points on a graph.

Users will assign different values to the X and Y axes of both points and PSPgraph will automatically compute and print the desired line on the screen. Aside from graphical enhancements, waywardson has also added some new features to PSPGraph.

The updated version of PSPGraph now comes with a Readme.txt file and should provide you with basic information including a keymap. Browse through that first before installing this program on your PSPs to fully enjoy PSPGraph. You can also refer to the forum link below if you want the coder to add more features in future versions.

PSPGraph - create a line by using the X and Y axes - Image 1PSPGraph - create a line by using the X and Y axes - Image 2

Homebrew games and applications sometimes don't have to be too complicated - these things only come second to being fun and usability. One such application is homebrew developer waywardson's PSPGraph that was released over at QJ.NET's PSP Development Forum.

Basically, this application allows users to plot a line on a graph. We imagine that some of you may find this useful especially during Mathematics classes if only to give you an excuse to bring out your PlayStation Portable units. You can plot a line by assigning values to the X and Y axes of both points.

PSPGraph doesn't come with a Readme.txt file but everything you need to know including the keymap are printed on the application's main screen.

Tank Attack 3D Beta: a proof of concept that shows promise - Image 1

Homebrew developer Waywardson has rolled out (pun intended) the Beta version of Tank Attack 3D. For a Proof-of-Concept release, this is pretty solid considering it already has collision detection and tank movement as well as a method of changing the camera views. However, the tanks still can't fire, so don't expect a full game when you download this.

The graphics are decent but the developer has said that he plans on making it even better and even add a few landmarks on the map to make it more realistic. Like his previous versions of Tank Attack, the game is meant to be played by two people with the PSP held sideways. Controls have also remained the same, with select now mapped to change the camera view.

So download the game and try it out. Be sure to go over the Read Me document in the compressed file before doing anything though. As a final note, try not to pay attention to the numbers in the lower-left corner of the screen. That's just debug info that won't be making it into the game's final release.

Tank Attack v.5 Screenshots - Image 1  Tank Attack v.5 Screenshots - Image 2

We've got some new and improved tank-related mayhem coming up with the latest release from Waywardson, Tank Attack v.5, posted in our very own QJ forums. Goodly-sized update this is, packing an entirely new level (and with an appropriate soundtrack to boot) as well as the essential function to pause your game.

For the unitiated, Tank Attack's premise is simple: you blow up the other dude (i.e. the other tank that's roaming around the map). Short, sweet, and extremely reminiscent of Battle City. Not that it's a bad thing.

A list of the changes from the previous update:
  • New level: The Techno Room, complete with soundtrack.
  • Pause Option: Press Start to pause, X to resume play.
  • New Game Over Screen
  • New Intro Logo
The Techno Room not only has its own theme, but the colors of the room actually change. It should be interesting to try and focus on blowing up the other tank in a disco-ish setting.

Ultimate Lua Shell screenshot - Image 1PSP homebrew developer Bob Hoil has apparently been working overtime, as the coder dropped by the QJ.Net Forums earlier to announce the release of Ultimate Lua Shell v.2. This application is a shell coded in Lua, and is expected to carry features like games, applications, a file browser, and a small text-based web browser. Here are the latest tweaks since v.1:
  • Games screen added
  • Tank Attack v.4 added under games(Thanks to waywardson)
  • Apps screen added
  • Fixed it so when you hit start at the apps, games, or filebrowser screen and go to the main menu it does not say the path does not exist.
  • New icon for the EBOOT
Installation details should be available in the README file. With that said, we advise users to drop by the QJ.Net Forums to visit the release thread in case they want to help the author out by submitting more apps and games for this shell's use. Enjoy the download!
