Homebrew developer Yongobongo has released browsr, a comprehensive multimedia application for the PSP. The software allows users to play MP3s, view images in JPG and PNG formats, change the wallpaper, and more. The homebrew has multiple features aside from those mentioned such as granting the user access to the Configuration Panel, support for themes, a Lua Script Launcher, and USB Mode. While the program already looks polished as it is, the developer has given word that this is still a work in progress. So go download this application and try it out to see if you like it. Just be sure to go over the documentation included to prevent any problems with installation and use of the program. Download: browsr Visit: QJ.NET PSP Development Forums |

QJ.NET Forums member lmtlmt has announced XMB Destroyer 0.98, a new game from lmtlmt and yongobongo (collectively known as Team LOL). XMB Destroyer plays similar to the various desktop destroyers available for Windows. You guys may have come across these things at one time or another. While desktop destroyers let you wreak havoc on your PC's desktop, XMB Destroyer allows you to do the same to your PlayStation Portable's XMB. Version 0.98 contains 11 weapons to destroy your XMB with. It's a mixed bag of weapons, with some taken from the desktop versions as well as a few new additions from lmtlmt and yongobongo. Check it out by clicking on the download link below. Download: XMB Destroyer v0.98 Visit: QJ.NET PSP Development forums |

For those who want to a harmless little mod for a friend's PlayStation Portable or merely want to give their own handhelds that extra bit of customization, then Yongobongo has you covered with the Firmware Version Spoofer. It's a handy little homebrew application that lets you change your PSP's displayed firmware version - you can give your custom firmware a name of up to 12 characters - easily and on the fly. Let's take a gander at the accompanying post, unedited and as is: This program allows you to change your PSP's displayed firmware version 'on-the-go'. Easy to use interface allows you to quickly enter your desired name (up to 12 characters for this version, maybe more when I have explored the vshctrl a bit more ) and flash it straight to your PSP unit. This program is for use ONLY on 3.52 M33-4. Usage: Press right/left to change the selected variable. Press up/down to change the data (character) in the selected variable. Press square to switch betwen upper and lower cases. Press cross to flash the new vshctrl.prx. Press start to return to text entry after flashing. Not too complicated, and very easy, wouldn't you say? But please don't be mean: avoid the temptation of fooling your newbie friends into thinking that you've accidentally downgraded their PSP's firmware - or that you've given your own an uber-advanced firmware that Sony only gave to its "super secret fanclub members." Play nice. The possibilities are endless, if you think hard enough. Just make sure you read the attached readme before installing or using the application. And just in case you missed it, the Firmware Version Spoofer is only for 3.52 M33-4. Download: PSP Firmware Version Spoofer for 3.52 M33-4 Visit: QJ.NET PSP Development Forum Thread |

Yongobongo, author of the PSP image editor yPaint, has just released PowerWatch PRX. The plugin shows some useful info about your PSP's battery status. Users must be warned that the plugin was developed only for custom firmwares and was specifically tested on M33's Custom Firmware 3.52. The developer also warns users not to flash the PRX. Here's the developer's notes: What It Does:

Yongobongo has released what could very well be the last version of yPaint. According to the developer, those who downloaded the patch or the older version should switch to this one instead. Both the patch and the older version won't work, but this one will. Anyway, the one big thing included in this version of yPaint Anniversary Edition is that it now works with custom firmwares as well as firmware 1.50. Again, make sure to download this version so you can proceed with doodling to your heart's content. Yongobongo also mentioned that the source code for yPaint may be released soon as this will probably be the last release of this particular homebrew application. If you've got any questions, click on the Visit link below to discuss yPaint on our PSP Development Forums. Thanks to borgqueenx for the tip! Homebrew developer bumuckl dropped by QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and rolled out a new and improved version of Bermuda CS. The program is a "creative suite" that allows users to design and create their own pictures and artwork using the PlayStation Portable.
This build, Bermuda CS 6 Pro, is quite similar to Bermuda CS Lite which was released just a couple of days ago. The main difference is the addition of the zoom tool, new fonts, and new text creation function. Here's the complete changelog as provided by bumuckl:

Here's an application that's bound to make graphics fans smile. Yongobongo recently released the latest version of his PSP image editing application known as yPaint. Now known as yPaint Anniversary Edition, the application seems to have had a lot of big changes, most notable of which is the ability to edit your configuration settings to tweak almost any variable in yPaint. The full list of current features can be found below:
Feel free to check out the readme for additional instructions on installing and using the different functions of yPaint, and don't hesitate to vote for yPaint in this year's NeoFlash Summer Coding Competition if you like yongobongo's work, alright? PSP homebrew maker Yongobongo dropped by the QJ.net forums to release 7WiN - LUA windowing system v1.0. It's a pretty nifty windows app that supports multi-tasking. The windows are highly customizable - all color and image variables come with the package, and you just have to dig it from the LUA file to do some editing. Yongobongo was nice enough to include sample.lua, a sample aimed to guide users on how to use the library. The package also includes a simple pong game, a paint app, and other stuff to try out the capabilities of the windows. Here are the features:

Yongobongo has just informed us that babblr version 2.0 is now out and available for download. For those of you who haven't come across it yet, babblr is the successor to the Windows Live PSP Messenger homebrew messenger portal for the Sony PSP.
At its core, babblr is an online messenger that will let you log in to AIM, MSN, and Y!M through your PSP. It also has other features, though. Using babblr, you can check email, read the news, buy stuff, browse the web, and play games. All of these can be done by clicking on the various buttons on the babblr GUI. PSP users who want to keep changing their application themes can use babblr's built-in theme switcher. It's also quite small and easy to integrate into your own portal. If you want to do that, you can contact the coders through the "via" link below. Usage and installation instructions can be found in the INSTRUCTIONS.txt file included in the download. Babblr may not brick your PSP, but reading the instructions could save you a whole lot of hassle. Download: Babblr v2.0 |
