Yoyomacy from our forums has just unveiled his latest PSP project. And amidst all the custom firmwares, PSX emulator related applications, and media managers that got released recently, you may have forgotten what homebrew is best for - games. This release called Smack for the PSP follows a ghetto cop trying to stop drug and weapon dealers by simply shooting everything in his path to reach the low rider before his health bar reaches zero. As you can tell by the description and the hi-resolution graphics, Smack is a proper homebrew game set to remind you just what your PSP is for. This game is just like any other side scrollers you have played and the trick is just to run, shoot and avoid enemy fire. You might be playing a cop in this game but the streets are no place for a shiny badge and handcuffs - you need to talk with your weapon (which, by the way, resembles an M4 Rifle). The graphics of this game are crisp and dignified, and Yoyomacy would like to Xodiac for the sprites and MaDSouL for the background. Download: [Smack] View: [Forum release thread] |

Yoyomacy, from our forums, has released a new LUA game entitled "Para-Lua". Many iPod owners may recognize (as did I) that this game looks a lot like parachute from our iPods, a game in which you must shoot down "parachuters" coming down at the ground with a canon. I hated playing this game on my iPod due to the controllers, but the PSP is a different story! Where the iPod locks in controls, the PSP flourishes. The game is only in its first release (v0.1), so don't expect it to be perfect - and if it is, then no need to complain! Feel free to discuss it in our forums and report any bugs or suggestions you might have to the author. Download: [Para-Lua v0.1] |

You heard right. If there's a reason to download the latest version of yoyomacy's side-scrolling Lua shooter, it's because it's now got sound effects, courtesy of the efforts of superbatxs. Also, because the code has been cleaned up a bit, bugs were fixed (although it seems that online feature from the last version is still not working as planned), and some other new stuff which are detailed in the change log below. But again, the big change is that, Houston, we now have sound. So now you don't only get to ride to the danger zone, you can hear it, too. Here's yoyomacy's changelog:

Homebrew developer for the PSP, yoyomacy, dropped by our forums once more and shared to us that he is releasing LuaAirForce 0.4 with online feature. He says that he wouldn't have done this game without the help of Tactical Paper, pspgamer, and cools. So with that he divulges what's new with this release.
On the online features side of things, yoyomacy mentions that "online feature is using your wireless internet router, face someone by obth starting at the same time, and you can see your opponents score, and see who can go longer and last longer." With that, here are the other new things you could expect from this version.

Following the great homebrew achievements of today, Cools from our forums has just released version 3 of his highly popular PSP eMail and SMS homebrew application. The last version of PSP eMail and SMS from Yoyomacy added the much sought-after Text2Phone support, and in this version Cools has gone all out to add Verizon Text Messaging support, new line message support (although a little buggy), and a whole bunch of internal changes to make the program run much better. For those who like to see a good user interface in a program, PSP eMail and SMS v3 has got to be on top of their list. Why? It has a new background selector, which allows you to choose between 12 new backgrounds from the likes of chrisk, XSonic, Siouxsie, thethingexe, Deanaw22, and kozine. Just press "Select" to bring up the options menu followed by square to go into the background changer - it's that easy! Cools may have taken a break from PSP Monopoly to code this, but you should also know that an international version is also on it's way, allowing you to send SMS text messages all around the world! There have been a lot of studies already about how videogames provide escape from the real world. They make people forget about life's harsh realities by immersing the gamer to make-believe worlds and situations. Whichever it is, videogames deconstruct and transform our brief lives. If you ask us, there are two things these little games have that make us all go back for more: plot and graphics. Plot doesn't have to be elaborate and grand all the time. Sometimes, all the players need to know is who they are and what are they supposed to do. Graphics on the other hand, needs no further explanation. Remember homebrew title luaAirForce? It is a shoot 'em down title from developer yoyomacy. Probably the most notable change is the plane's ammunition. Instead of using bullets like before, the aircraft now launches missiles for better gaming experience, like what we have mentioned a while ago. While having a good time shooting down enemy planes, tankers are now roaming to add more thrill and difficulty to the game. Needless to say, the game definitely runs smoother this time. Lastly, yoyomacy feels very grateful for everyone's support; he's also hoping you could dish out comments, suggestions, and bug reports (if there are any). Yesterday, while killing time, we were literally having a blast playing luaAirForce v0.1 on our PSP. Frankly, the game is quite addictive and uber fun. Well, shooting down planes and other moving objects is always fun stuff, right? Anyway, as much as we were enjoying the Lua game, we took note that there are still some room for improvement. Clearly, yoyomacy is aware of that and that's probably why the developer dropped by our forums today to release an improved version of the game. Aside from the few minor bugs fixed, yoyomacy also added a few things that definitely kick luaAirForce a notch higher. Since some enemy planes are now hard to knock down (they move faster and you need to shoot them twice), more ammo were added to the cache. Yeba! In terms of graphics, the game looks and runs smoother this time. An explosion animation was also added whenever enemy planes are shot. Furthermore, planes now scroll off screen instead of just popping off and the bullets can now be seen anywhere. We guess that's all for now for luaAirForce v0.2. We have to go now and play the new version some more. Thanks yoyomacy and TacticalPaper, the homebrew community">homebrew community">homebrew community appreciates your efforts very much. yoyomacy stopped by our forums recently and he shared with us this LUA game that took him two weeks to create. The game is luaAirForce 0.1 and the homebrew developer claims that this is the first game that he has coded without the help of any tutorials. And from the looks of it, after co-making the homebrew app, fBrowserXP, the dev is definitely on the right track. Download: [luaAirForce 0.1] |

This is a file browser script made by fchaos and yoyomacy. Using this nice Lua App, you can browse folders, execute Lua scripts, and view .PNG images. You're going to need Lua Player for this though. Just stick the fBrowser folder into the applications folder of your Lua Folder and you're good to go. It's that simple! Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |

Thanks to yoyomacy, text2phone support is now available for PSP eMail and SMS v2 by cools (thanks for the heads up!). It connects to cellphone and an ordinary home phone pretty quickly, even if tested several times. This enables more stability on your emails and SMS.
To get text2phone running, your lua player must be WiFi capable. The Up/Down control in the main screen allows you to choose between To, From, the Subject and the Message, while the Analog pad allows you to choose letters using custom danzeff port. The X button on the Send Screen allows you to send, while the Triangle button lets you leave the Send Screen. Download: [PSP eMail and SMS v2 Text2phone] Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |
