Last year, 10tacle studios announced that they would be releasing Boulder Dash for the PSP and DS. For the guys unfamiliar with the game, Boulder Dash was originally created in the 80s for the Apple II, MSX, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, and Atari 400/800 home computers.

The game puts players behind the controls of Rockford, whose job is to dig through caves collecting gems and diamonds while avoiding hostile creatures and falling rocks. Fast forward to today, we we have received new details for this upcoming game, which has been renamed Boulder Dash-Rocks!:
  • Completely revamped in-game graphics
  • Release date moved to the fourth quarter 2007.
  • The game will feature tools to help the players on their diamond-collecting, such as bombs and laser guns - the latter can be loaded with different types of ammo.
  • Each laser ammo has a different characteristic: some have the ability to freeze enemies, while others pull objects towards the player.
  • Five game modes: Single-player, Multi-player, and three other TBA game modes.
  • Unique game modes for the PSP and DS (TBA).
Just keep posted as 10tacle reveals more details on this upcoming game in the near future

Bruce Lua - Image 2 Bruce Lua - Image 1

PSPKOR has released a new version of his homebrew beat 'em up title coded in Lua, Bruce Lua to v0.2 today. Bruce lua is a homebrew clone of the retro game released for the Zx Spectrum and Commodore 64 consoles back in the 80's. It features side-scrolling gameplay and an enemy AI. The first release of this game, which features martial arts legend Bruce Lee and Street Fighter front-man Ryu, went down well with QJ readers a few weeks ago, and hopefully this release that packs more features and a decent enemy AI should be the same. Here's the changelog:
  • Actual game mode now playable thanks to AI.
  • Ryu(Enemy) with some Basic A.I.
  • Changing color health bar as your health gets lower.
  • Side scrolling background, as you walk close to it.
  • A score board, to see how well you can do.
This game even features a training mode to get you started on those karate chops. This is PSPKOR's first homebrew game and is only his second release for the PSP, the first being the initial version of Bruce Lua, and it is really fun to play. Hopefully this game will continue to be upgraded as the gameplay in this is truly remarkable for a Lua game! See for yourselves!
