PSP - Image 1PSP homebrew dev Cpasjuste, who also gave us 2.71 SE-B VSH Overclocking module, has released a port of PSP-FTPD originally created by PSPKrazy, picked up by Zx-81 which he modded to work as module under the 3.03 VSH. It's called VSH FTPD Module 1 for DA 3.03 FW. It's an FTP server that will run under the VSH when launched with the updater icon from the PSP menu.

How to install and use:

  • Copy the content of the MS_ROOT folder at the root of the memory stick
  • Launch Vsh_Ftpd_Flasher under the game menu of the PSP
  • Press Circle to replace the current update_plugin.prx module with the FTPD one
  • Select the Updater icon under the PSP menu (VSH) to launch the ftpd server
  • Connect to your PSP with your favorite FTP client as anonymous on port 21 (For now there are no info printed on the screen, so you have to either set a static IP or know/find your dynamic IP yourself)
  • If you send homebrews via FTP, you should enter in the game saves menu, for example, then comeback under the game menu to update the list
Cpajuste says it's got a few bugs such as when the module is launched, it is impossible to enter the video menu from the VSH. The module is flashed to flash0:/vsh/nodule/update_plugin.prx, replacing the current one. By selecting the update icon under the PSP menu, the FTPD server will be launched in anonymous mode. Browsing PSP menu and launching homebrew while the FTPD is running should not cause problems. He also says the source code will be released soon.

Please refer to the readme file before you use this application. Or in the words of Cpajuste: THE MODULE WILL BE FLASHED TO YOUR PSP. WHILE THIS HAS BEEN TESTED AND SHOULD BE SAFE, THIS IS CAN BRICK YOUR PSP. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

 » SUBJECT LINE! RAWRRRR!

You can launch it from the locationfree icon. It's also a more fitting location since it is under network.

 » oo-ooohhhh

can you direct me to the software that will change the update icon to one that will turn on usbhost? is that the xflash series (have not used)? can you pull up legally backed up games from the pc directly by the icon appearing in xmb, without using a devhook, in 3.03 oe b? Thanks for any help, anyone!

 » I learned a few days ago...

about the 2.71/3.00 hybrid that can be used, along with the usbhost prog and devhook 0.46, to store the large iso files on the pc instead of the memory stick. it works like a charm by enabling the usb option; up to 2.81 games, and it works in 3.03 oe-b. smackdown raw 2007 is a 2.82 game, tho. any new hybrids for newer firmwares? i dont think these mods are illegal, but I had to look all over google for them. any other usb strategies, either?

those this work with 3.0.2OEB ?

 » what!?!?!

it says clearly what it is.. its an ftp client/server for psp.. really if you dont know what ftp is then its prolly not a good idea to mess with this then.. but just so ya know ftp is file transfer protocol i believe and its a method of sending data around the net. you connect to the server with a client and download or uploading files. basicly it lets you upload stuff to your psp with the wireless connection instead of usb..

 » So basically

This thing allows you to run your homebrews from your computer as long as you have a wireless connection.. Sounds great really, but what if you`re in an area with no WiFi around..?

 » jib

1. Search your neighborhood for a connection.
2. Get broadband and purchase a WiFi Router.
3. Move to a metropolis, Free WiFi is everywhere.

» Make it into a plug and you have a winner.

I don't like the fact that you have to flash it on to your psp. Make it into a plug in and more people are bound to use it. Having ftp access to my psp with out having to plug it in to the usb would be nice and less cable when I'm just transfering files.

For those asking what it does. At least form what I understand it is a FTP server for your psp. THat means you can use ftp software on your computer to connect and transfer files to and from your psp.

 » Hmmm

Yes IRShell was the app that would let you use nethost
allowing the PSP to connect to the PC and use it as your
storage drive via WiFi. You no longer needed expensive
MS Pro Duo's anylonger. I used IRShell for awhile, good
app but could never figure out how to get nethost to
work.

I chalk it up to me not knowing all the details to get it
both properly installed and working. If I remember
correclly, I had to go download a nethost driver from
windows, it was part of the instructions, did that and
entered my IP address but, didn't work. I'm sure it worked
for others just not me.

It so hard to get good help here with all the flamers
looking for community members that ask "How to"
questions, as targets onwhich to ignite upon. "NOOOOB!"
The rest of the time they spend searching for fresh threads on which to "1st POST!".

Sigh......

Re: Wicked Insider (Unregistered) - 2007-01-20
 » Update

PSPHost was another app used in the process
that enables USB/NET Hosting.

Still hasn't figured out how to nethost with
PSPHost + IRShell. Perhaps I should try this app
and see how it works.

 » Works

Works perfect!! Just transfered a 4mb mp3 in 1 min using Core FTP. Renamed it to lftv_plugin and flashed it with the rbprx_v0.2_with_installer . Attempted to delete file thur ftp but it did not delete it from the stick.

 » 3.03?

Does that mean it works with 3.03 not oe-b or whatever?
